Aladar Aujeszky (1869-1933) medical and veterinary doctor, ordinary professor worked at the Department of Bacteriology in the Royal Hungarian Veterinary College from 1907 to 1933.
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the death of Professor Aladar Aujeszky's, the European Society for Veterinary Virology made a symposium on the Aujeszky's disease virus on the 30th and 31st of August, 1993 at Budapest at the university auditorium. On the day preceeding the symposium, (29th August 1993) the chairman of the European Society for Veterinary Virology unveiled an Aujeszky memorial tablet, donated by the society, in the foyer of the Veterinary Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. There is a small, left-looking bronze portrait of Aladár Aujeszky on the memorial tablet made of marble. Under it, there is the following English inscription: IN HONOUR OF ALADAR AUJESZKY (1869-1933) DISCOVERER OF AUJESZKY'S DISEASE IN 1902 / WHO WORKED AND LIVED HERE AS DIRECTOR / OF THE VACCINE PRODUCTION INSTITUTE / DONATED BY THE EUROPEAN SOCIETY FOR VETERINARY VIROLOGY / AT THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON AUJESZKY'S DISEASE VIRUS AUGUST 1993.
