Gyula Magyary-Kossa (1865-1944) DM, professor of pharmacology and toxicology in the Veterinary College from 1896 to 1936. He created an oeuvre of lasting value in the sphere of Hungarian veterinary history, too.

On May 1. 1909. Alajos Mayer, sculpturer painted an oil potrait (69x84 cm) of professor Magyary-Kossa. In the portrait, looking forward and a bit to the right, the professor rests his head on his right hand holding a cigar. There is a signature and a date in the lower right corner of the picture: "Mayer / 1909.V.1.".
The portrait was donated to the Veterinary Science Library by the Magyary-Kossa family. (MMJ)
