János Mócsy (1895-1976), veterinary doctor, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Kossuth-prize winner, state-prize winner, professor of internal medicine from 1935 to 1961, internationally ackowledged scientist of veterinary science.
A scientific memorial session was organized on the occasion of Professor János Mócsy's birth centenary on the 30th of November,1995 in the University of Veterinary Science. The ceremonial memorial speech was delivered by Professor Károly, head of the Department of Internal Medicine. In the name of Federation of Hungarian Veterinary Chambers Imre Bartalis remembered professor Mócsy and thanked the entire veterinary community for its readiness to contribute to the creation of the statue. The memorial session was continued in the memorial park of the university with the statue's inauguration. Speeches were delivered by Professor Gyula Lami, Adorján Bartha, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and Géza Filving, vice-mayor of Kalocsa. Then rector László V. Frenyó unveiled János Mócsy's bust, a creation by Előd Kocsis.(MMJ)
