On the 11th of November, 1929 János Mayer, minister of agriculture, opened the institute at 2 Tábornok Street, Budapest. A marble tablet could be fond at the old entrance with the following inscription (in Hungarian): Hungarian Royal National Institute for Animal Health / Constructed by Béla Kappéter, master architect / according to Alfréd Jendrassik’s plans/ under the governorship of Vitéz Miklós Horthy of Nagybánya, / the minister of agriculture, János Mayer, / the secretary of state, Károly Mayer of Wallerstain, / in the year 1928, between two turuls guarding the Hungarian coat of arms. This marble tablet was changed in 1946. On the new tablet the following inscription can be read: National Institute for Animal Health / constructed in 1928. (MMJ)
