Gyula Sályi (1903-1982) was a veterinary doctor, a Kossuth-prize winner professor, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, head of the Department for Pathology (1941-1965), dean of the College of Veterinary Science (1950-1951), director then rector from 1958 to 1963.
His portrait showing him as rector can be found in the reading-room of the Veterinary Science Library. It was painted by Emil Csizmadia in 1985. (MMJ)
