József Marek (1868-1952) was a veterinary doctor, PhD, ordinary and honorary member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, head of the Department and Clinic of Internal Medicine from 1901 to 1935.
The monument of József Marek, first Kossuth-prize winner of the College of Veterinary Science, was unveiled in the morning of 19th September 1954, in the memorial park of the college. Several hundreds of veterinarians, fellow professors and students of József Marek, the family, admirers and acquaintances were present. The inauguration ceremonial speech was delivered by Professor János Mócsy.(MMJ)
