Béla Tormay (1839-1906) was an agronomist, veterinarian, counsellor of the minister, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, head of the Department of Animal Breeding from 1873 to 1888, director of the Hungarian Royal Veterinary College from 1875 to 1888, lecturer in obstetrics and reproductive biology (1875-1882). He was a great pioneer of Hungarian animal breeding, animal health and agriculture.
There is a portrait of Béla Tormay in the teacher's room of the Department of Animal Breeding as well the painter of which is unknown. (MMJ)
